Groups of men (costaleros) meet to celebrate religious processions where they lift images of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary on their cervical vertebrae, producing paraesthesias in the upper limbs of some of them.
The typical length of time of a procession is between 5 and 12 hours, and each man carries between 35 and 60 kilograms.
